Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Python Developer to design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in software engineering principles, experience building scalable applications or services, and the ability to work across the full development lifecycle from design through deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable Python based applications and services
- Write clean, maintainable, and well documented code following best practices
- Design and optimize database schemas and queries
- Build and consume RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services
- Collaborate with cross functional teams (product, QA, DevOps, front end) to define and deliver features
- Identify and fix bugs, bottlenecks, and performance issues
- Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards
- Write unit, integration, and end to end tests to ensure code quality
- Contribute to architecture and technical design discussions
- Automate deployment pipelines and support CI/CD processes
- Mentor junior developers and support knowledge sharing across the team
- Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements
Mandatory Skills
- 8+ years of professional software development experience with Python
- Strong proficiency in core Python (Python 3.x), including OOP concepts, data structures, and algorithms
- Solid experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
- Strong understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and SQL query writing/optimization
- Experience with version control systems, primarily Git
- Proficiency in writing unit tests and using testing frameworks (pytest, unittest)
- Experience with asynchronous programming (asyncio, async/await)
- Solid understanding of software design patterns and clean code principles
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and basic orchestration concepts
- Strong debugging, problem solving, and performance optimization skills
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and cloud native application development
- Familiarity with message queues/streaming platforms (Kafka, Redis Streams)
- Experience with NoSQL databases
- Exposure to CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of data engineering tools/libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Airflow, Spark)
- Experience with front end basics (JavaScript, React) for full stack collaboration
- Familiarity with microservices architecture
- Understanding of security best practices (OAuth2, JWT, data encryption)
- Contributions to open source projects
- Relevant certifications (AWS Certified Developer, Python Institute certifications, etc.)
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
The pay range for this role is $110000- $120000 per annum including any bonuses or variable pay.
