Senior Software Engineer, Python Programmer
Fitch Ratings is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Python to support the development and delivery of applications on Python, AWS, and Azure cloud platforms. The role involves maintaining high standards of quality, performance, and scalability for Fitch’s Ratings workflow systems.
Objectives of this role
- Develop, test, and maintain high-quality software using Python.
- Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, building, testing, and delivering solutions.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify and solve complex problems.
- Write clean, reusable code that can be easily maintained and scaled.
Your tasks
- Work on technically complex systems requiring strong design and development skills.
- Interpret complex requirements associated with Ratings workflow tools.
- Participate in code reviews, ensuring quality and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Set up CI/CD pipelines and integrate them with organizational delivery mechanisms.
- Debug code and troubleshoot Python‑related queries.
- Keep up to date with emerging trends and technologies in Python development.
- Participate in Agile development processes to deliver high‑quality software solutions.
- Assist in managing multiple projects to ensure timely delivery within scope and timelines.
- Provide production support and help establish technical best practices.
Required skills and qualifications
- 8+ years of experience as a Python developer with a robust portfolio of projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or a related field.
- In‑depth understanding of the Python development stack, ecosystems, frameworks, and automation.
- Experience with front‑end development and cloud platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with databases such as Postgres and Oracle, and with SQL and NoSQL technologies.
- Experience with code versioning, maintenance, and deployment tools like GitHub, Bamboo, and JIRA.
- Excellent problem‑solving ability with solid communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Experience with Python frameworks such as Django, Flask, or Pyramid.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, EKS).
- Knowledge of data science and machine learning concepts and tools.
- Contributions to open‑source Python projects or active involvement in the Python community.
