Our banking client is seeking a Senior Python Engineer (10+ years of experience) to build scalable Python microservices and data engineering solutions using FastAPI, PySpark, Azure Databricks, Docker, Kubernetes, Redis, and Kafka

This role focuses on Python microservices, API enablement, vendor integration, and modern data platform engineering using cloud-native and event-driven technologies. The position offers exposure to enterprise-scale platform modernization initiatives and collaboration across engineering, security, platform, and business teams. This is a long-term contract opportunity supporting a large-scale project environment.

- Python microservices , FastAPI , REST/gRPC , Docker , Kubernetes , Redis , and Kafka
- Authentication , authorization , testing , monitoring , compliance , and operational reliability for production-ready enterprise solutions
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
Nice to Have
- Scalable services or data pipelines processing high-volume enterprise workloads
- Reusable internal frameworks, shared services, or internal developer platform capabilities
- AI-assisted engineering practices supporting development, testing, documentation, or productivity
- Collaboration across engineering, platform, security, and business teams
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain secure Python microservices and APIs
- Deliver RESTful APIs, microservice APIs, internal platform APIs, and data ingestion APIs
- Build and optimize data engineering solutions using Python and Azure data technologies
- Create reusable frameworks, automation, orchestration patterns, documentation, and testing practices
- Translate complex requirements into production-ready solutions with technology, security, and business partners
- Troubleshoot issues, tune performance, and support releases
- Contribute to monitoring, knowledge transfer, and production readiness activities
Contract, Toronto, Hybrid, 4 days per week onsite
