Job Description – Python Programmer (Odoo System Customization)

Role Purpose
The Python Programmer is responsible for developing, customizing, and maintaining Odoo modules that turn client business requirements into working ERP solutions.
Working under the direction of SPC's Odoo Project Manager, this role converts Functional Requirement Documents (FRD) into clean, upgrade-safe custom code — covering module development, workflow automation, report customization, and third-party integrations — so that every implementation goes live on time and stays maintainable after go-live.
The Python Programmer will coordinate closely with SPC's:

• Pre-Sales Consultant
• Turnover & Training Officer
• Client Success Manager
• Managed Services Team
Key Responsibilities
Custom Module Development
• Design, develop, and maintain custom Odoo modules based on Functional Requirement Documents.
• Build new features without modifying Odoo core code, keeping customizations upgrade-safe.
• Write clean, modular, reusable Python code following Odoo development guidelines.
• Improve existing code to increase performance, usability, and reliability.
Odoo Customization & Configuration
• Customize standard modules: CRM, Sales, Purchase, Inventory, Accounting, Manufacturing, Projects, Helpdesk, HR, and Field Service.
• Modify views, forms, menus, and workflows using XML and the Odoo ORM.
• Develop automated actions, scheduled jobs, and server actions.
• Customize QWeb reports (quotations, invoices, delivery receipts, BIR-compliant forms).
Integrations & APIs
• Integrate Odoo with third-party applications via REST and XML-RPC APIs.
• Support integrations with payment gateways, e-commerce platforms, and logistics providers.
• Build and maintain webhooks and data-exchange scripts.
Data Migration
• Prepare import templates and migration scripts for master data and transaction history.
• Clean, transform, and validate client data before go-live.
Testing & Quality Assurance
• Perform unit testing and integration testing on all custom code.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and fix defects raised by the Project Manager and clients.
• Participate in code reviews and follow SPC coding standards.
Deployment & Maintenance
• Deploy custom modules to staging and production environments (Odoo.sh or on-premise).
• Support version upgrades and migration of custom modules between Odoo versions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve post-go-live issues within agreed response times.
Documentation
Prepare and maintain:
• Technical Specifications
• Module documentation and code comments
• Release notes and change logs
• Deployment and rollback procedures
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for:
• Reusable module libraries across client projects
• Workflow automation and AI integration
• Performance optimization (PostgreSQL queries, ORM recordsets)
• New Odoo apps and managed IT service offerings
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in:
• Computer Science
• Information Technology
• Computer Engineering
• Software Engineering
• or related disciplines (strong portfolio or open-source contributions may substitute for formal education)
Required Experience
- 1–3 years of professional software development experience using Python.
Hands-on Odoo development experience is preferred; strong Python developers willing to learn the Odoo framework will be considered.
Any of the following count as relevant experience:
• Odoo custom module development (Community or Enterprise, v14 and above)
• Python web frameworks (Django, Flask, FastAPI)
• ERP, accounting, or business application development
• Freelance or open-source Odoo/OCA contributions
Technical Skills
Must-Have:
• Python and object-oriented programming
• Relational databases and SQL (PostgreSQL preferred)
• XML for Odoo views and data files
• JavaScript, HTML, and CSS fundamentals
• Git version control (GitHub/GitLab)
• Linux command-line basics
Preferred:
• Odoo ORM, QWeb reporting, and the OWL JavaScript framework
• Odoo security model (access rights, record rules, security groups)
• REST / XML-RPC API integration
• Odoo.sh, Docker, or cloud deployment (AWS, Google Cloud)
• Odoo Developer Certification

Preferred / Nice-to-Have
• Experience with Philippine business processes: BIR computerized accounting requirements, withholding tax, and local payroll.
• Exposure to accounting, inventory, or manufacturing workflows.
• Experience migrating data from QuickBooks, Zoho, SAP B1, or spreadsheets into Odoo.
• Contributions to OCA (Odoo Community Association) repositories.
