Python Software Engineer

Description

The Support Development Team builds and maintains internal applications that help Support Engineers work more effectively - automating repetitive tasks, streamlining workflows, and translating operational challenges into scalable technical solutions. As a Software Engineer on this team, you will own tools end-to-end, working closely with Support teams to understand their needs and deliver impactful solutions. The team's primary language is Python, with Go used on selected projects, Kubernetes-based infrastructure, and occasional frontend work in NextJS.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python-based tools that enhance the efficiency and workflow of Support Engineers
• Work directly with Support Engineers to understand their challenges and translate them into actionable technical solutions
• Identify and integrate improvements into the existing tool ecosystem, continuously seeking modernization opportunities
• Troubleshoot tool-related issues and ensure minimal downtime for internal users
• Write and maintain clear documentation to support scalability, onboarding, and knowledge sharing
• Explore emerging technologies and propose innovative approaches to improve team solutions
• Contribute to Go-based projects and work within Kubernetes-based infrastructure as part of ongoing modernization

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on Python development with a strong understanding of best practices and software design principles
• Experience with a Python web framework - Django, Flask or FastAPI
• Strong fundamentals with the ability to read, debug, and pick up unfamiliar languages and codebases independently
• Comfortable working in Linux environments, including shell scripting, system operations, and troubleshooting
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Clear communication and collaboration skills - this role works closely with non-technical stakeholders
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, or similar)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Go, or a strong interest in picking it up
• Hands-on familiarity with Kubernetes - deployments, services, and troubleshooting (EKS experience a plus)
• Familiarity with frontend development frameworks, specifically NextJS or other React based frameworks
• Cloud environment experience, with AWS being a strong advantage
• Knowledge of system-level topics such as storage and networking
