Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a focused and capable QA Automation Engineer specializing in Playwright to design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for web applications. This role emphasizes hands-on automation using Playwright (JavaScript/TypeScript), collaboration with cross-functional teams, and integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines. The successful candidate will contribute to reliable, scalable software delivery and actively participate in process improvements, with a strong emphasis on quality and efficiency in an Agile environment.

Software Requirements

Required Skills (Essential)

  • Proficiency in Playwright for automated testing of web applications (JavaScript/TypeScript)

  • Strong experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks

  • Experience with API testing (REST/GraphQL) using tools like Postman or automated approaches

  • Solid understanding of SDLC/Agile methodologies and working within cross-functional teams

  • Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and collaboration platforms (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket)

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to debug and troubleshoot test failures

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and reporting

  • Familiarity with test planning, data setup, and test data management

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of additional automation tools or frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress)

  • Experience with test management tools (JIRA, HP ALM) and defect lifecycle

  • Experience with performance testing basics and test automation maintenance

  • Exposure to cloud-based testing environments or multi-cloud contexts

  • Familiarity with security testing and data privacy considerations in test environments

Overall Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust Playwright-based automated test scripts and frameworks for web applications

  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, QA peers, and operations to define test strategies and coverage

  • Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test data arrangements

  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid, reliable releases

  • Identify, log, and track defects; coordinate with developers for timely resolution and retesting

  • Conduct and contribute to code reviews to uphold quality standards

  • Produce clear test reports, dashboards, and quality metrics for stakeholders

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) and contribute to continuous improvement

  • Support test environment setup, data provisioning, and environment management

  • Document testing processes, best practices, and lessons learned for team growth

  • Exposure to multi-disciplinary teams and cross-location collaboration

  • Alternative pathways: strong portfolio of Playwright-based automation projects or related certifications

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Create, maintain, and enhance automated test scripts and frameworks

  • Plan and execute test activities; collaborate with stakeholders to ensure test coverage

  • Run automated and manual tests; log and track defects; ensure timely retesting

  • Contribute to test plans, test data strategies, and test environment requirements

  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and reviews

  • Document results, metrics, and best practices; share knowledge with the team

  • Support release activities and post-release validation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

  • 3–5 years of hands-on QA automation experience with Playwright

  • Certifications in test automation or related QA disciplines are a plus
