Your New Role

The Quant Developer will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining the data and research infrastructure that power our systematic equities strategies. With particular emphasis on enabling systematic equity research, portfolio construction, and implementation the role will contribute to the broader strategic objectives of Australian Ethical to achieve growth in funds under management.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Build and manage the investment data platforms that underpin domestic and international systematic equity strategies
  • Develop and maintain high-quality market, fundamental, benchmark and corporate action datasets used across research and portfolio management
  • Design and enhance scalable research infrastructure that enables portfolio managers and researchers to test, evaluate and implement investment ideas
  • Partner closely with investment professionals to develop new alpha signals, factor models and quantitative research capabilities
  • Own data integrity across global equity markets, ensuring accuracy through complex corporate actions, security lifecycle events and benchmark changes
  • Develop automated solutions and production-quality systems supporting portfolio construction, optimisation and trade implementation
  • Improve the efficiency, reliability and scalability of investment research and operational workflows
  • Contribute directly to the development of proprietary investment, risk and analytics capabilities within a collaborative quantitative investment environment

What we’re looking for

You have a passion for equity markets and quantitative investing, along with strong SQL and Python skills. You combine analytical rigour with a deep understanding of market data, corporate actions, and security master management, enabling you to deliver high-quality data solutions that support investment research and portfolio management.

If you have all or most of the following, we’d love to hear from you:

  • 3+ years of experience in quantitative development. investment systems development, financial data engineering or similar
  • Demonstrated track record of supporting quant research projects, enhancing and developing new strategies
  • Experience building a database of securities for the purposes of research and production
  • Ability to work effectively with portfolio managers and researchers in a high performing investment team
  • Exposure to systematic equity strategies, quantitative modelling, or portfolio optimisation techniques
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python essential, Snowflake highly regarded
  • Ideally, experience working in a production investment environment, including supporting live portfolios and trading workflows
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications
  • CFA designation highly regarded
