At Scribd (pronounced "scribbed"), our mission is to spark human curiosity.
Join our team as we create a world of stories and knowledge, democratize the exchange of ideas and information, and empower collective expertise through our three products: Everand, Scribd, and Slideshare.
We support a culture where our employees can be real and be bold; where we debate and commit as we embrace plot twists; and where every employee is empowered to take action as we prioritize the customer.
When it comes to workplace structure, we believe in balancing individual flexibility and community connections.
It's through our flexible work benefit, Scribd Flex, that employees - in partnership with their manager - can choose the daily work-style that best suits their individual needs.
A key tenet of Scribd Flex is our prioritization of intentional in-person moments to build collaboration, culture, and connection.
For this reason, occasional in-person attendance is required for all Scribd employees, regardless of their location.
So what are we looking for in new team members?
Well, we hire for "GRIT".
The textbook definition of GRIT is demonstrating the intersection of passion and perseverance towards long term goals.
At Scribd, we are inspired by the potential that this can unlock, and ask each of our employees to pursue a GRIT-ty approach to their work.
In a tactical sense, GRIT is also a handy acronym that outlines the standards we hold ourselves and each other to.
Here's what that means for you: we're looking for someone who showcases the ability to set and achieve G oals, achieve R esults within their job responsibilities, contribute I nnovative ideas and solutions, and positively influence the broader T eam through collaboration and attitude.
About the team and role
Join the Everand mobile team as a React Native Engineer and help build the next generation of Scribd's cross-platform mobile experience.
We're transitioning to a hybrid mobile architecture, and you'll be instrumental in building high-quality features in React Native and supporting our migration from native codebases.
You'll collaborate closely with other engineers, designers, and product managers to bring engaging, performant user experiences to life.
Along the way, you'll contribute to shared components, uphold mobile development best practices, and help identify areas for improvement in our growing React Native footprint.
We value quality over speed, thoughtful planning over short-term hacks, and continuous improvement over "just good enough."
We're looking for engineers who share these values and who are energized by writing clean, scalable code, trying new technologies, and collaborating with diverse teams.
We believe the best mobile experiences come from teams who care deeply about the people they build for, and each other.
About the Role
- Your main focus will be to build and maintain high-quality features using React Native across our iOS and Android apps.
- Much of your work will center on the migration of Everand app functionality from native code to React Native.

- You'll take part in code reviews, contribute to shared component libraries, and help improve developer tooling and workflows.
- You'll also troubleshoot issues related to performance, and platform-specific behaviors.
We're excited about you because
- Have hands-on experience building and shipping mobile apps using React Native.
- Are familiar with at least one native mobile platform (e.g., Swift/Objective-C for iOS or Kotlin/Java for Android).
- Understand the basics of mobile performance, debugging, and platform constraints.
- Communicate proactively with your team and cross-functional partners to ensure clarity and alignment.
- Care about clean, maintainable code and write tests to ensure long-term quality.
- Are comfortable working independently while also collaborating closely with teammates.
- Care deeply about working in an inclusive environment and continuously growing as an engineer and teammate.
It's a plus if you also have
