The role:

This is a temporary , full-time position created to support terminal operations based on current business needs. The duration of the assignment will be determined by operational requirements.


The Rigger is responsible for executing the rigging activities required for the safe movement of ISO containers and heavy equipment at our plant/terminal located at the Port of Pichilingue, Baja California Sur, Mexico. The Rigger is responsible for preparing materials prior to lifting operations, installing and dismantling lifting gear, supporting the operation of heavy equipment when required, and ensuring all activities are carried out safely and efficiently.


The Rigger will maintain effective communication with the operations team and ensure compliance with the Company's Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) policies and procedures. This position requires physical demands such as walking, lifting materials and equipment, and standing for extended periods.


Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and prepare ISO containers and other loads to be moved.
  • Adjust, align, and level heavy machinery and equipment as required to perform lifting operations safely.
  • Attach and secure wire ropes, slings, and other rigging equipment, selecting the appropriate attachment points and load capacities for each lift.
  • Identify and select the appropriate lifting equipment for each operation.
  • Recognize and assess hazards associated with lifting and load-handling activities.
  • Prepare lifting equipment, including slings, pulleys, shackles, clamps, bolts, and other rigging accessories.
  • Inspect lifting equipment before and after each use, and properly store and maintain rigging equipment to ensure it remains in safe working condition.
  • Handle and move loads using heavy equipment and, when required, manually.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company and regulatory HSSE policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain effective communication with crane operators, yard equipment operators, truck drivers, marine crews, and other personnel involved in operations.
  • Utilize the port container management system to record container arrivals and departures at the dock and container yard.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company.


What you bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in port terminals, logistics centers, industrial facilities, or similar operational environments.
  • Knowledge of safe cargo handling, rigging, lifting, container stacking, and terminal operations.
  • Ability to inspect equipment and identify mechanical or safety conditions requiring attention.
  • Knowledge of the proper use and inspection of rigging equipment, including slings, shackles, pulleys, and other lifting accessories.
  • Strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required by operational needs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform the physical demands associated with heavy equipment and cargo handling operations.
