About Robotics & Companies

Robotics & Companies, Inc. (RNC) is a US-based AI robotics company building intelligent systems across companion care, clinical health and autonomous retail. Our flagship product is an AI companion robot designed for older adults; combining voice-based health monitoring, social engagement, and family connectivity into a single countertop device. Our health platform extends this into clinical settings with continuous passive monitoring and predictive analytics.

This is a rare opportunity to join a founding‑stage team with a clean cap table, a defined product, and a market that is not waiting.

  • English proficiency is required. All internal communication, documentation, and collaboration with the US‑based team is conducted in English.

Role Overview

We are hiring a Senior Robotics Software Engineer based in Shenzhen to own the software layer of our AI companion robot. You will work directly with our US‑based CTO and our hardware manufacturing partner to build, test, and deploy the embedded OS, AI inference pipeline, voice processing stack, and cloud data architecture. This is a hands‑on, high‑ownership role at a company where your work ships to real users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the embedded software stack: OS configuration, real‑time sensor data collection, local processing, and cloud data pipeline integration
  • Build and optimize the voice AI layer: wake word detection on‑device, LLM inference via cloud, text‑to‑speech, and voice biomarker analysis
  • Develop and deploy edge AI capabilities on ARM‑based SoC platforms (RK3576/RK3588 or equivalent), including model compression, quantization, and real‑time inference optimization
  • Integrate Bluetooth health sensor data (BP monitor, SpO2, thermometer) into the health data pipeline
  • Build the AWS cloud integration: IoT Core, OTA update system, CI/CD pipeline, and health data storage
  • Collaborate with the hardware manufacturing partner on firmware integration, HAL development, and prototype validation
  • Contribute to FCC and FDA technical documentation as required
  • Support the CTO in defining the software architecture roadmap across companion, health, retail, and defense product tracks

AI/ML Responsibilities
  • Design and deploy end‑to‑end AI/ML systems for voice, health, and behavioral analysis applications
  • Optimize and deploy real‑time inference on edge devices under embedded constraints
  • Build data pipelines from deployed devices to improve model performance over timeDevelop context‑aware behavioral models that enable the robot to adapt responses based on user history and health signals
  • Implement voice biomarker analysis for passive health and emotional state monitoring

Required Skills and Experience
  • 4+ years in robotics software, embedded systems, or related domains
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python
  • Hands‑on experience with embedded Linux and/or RTOS on ARM‑based SoC platforms
  • Experience with AWS IoT, Lambda, and cloud data pipelines
  • Familiarity with voice processing frameworks and speech recognition systems
  • Experience integrating Bluetooth or serial peripheral devices
  • Strong written and spoken English — all documentation and team communication is in English
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑moving, early‑stage environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working directly with a contract manufacturer in Shenzhen or the Pearl River Delta
  • Familiarity with Rockchip SoC platforms (RK3288, RK3576, RK3588)
  • Experience with health sensor data processing (PPG, SpO2, ECG, or similar)
  • Background in consumer robotics, smart home devices, or medical devices
  • Exposure to FCC, CE, or FDA technical documentation
  • Experience with voice biomarker or emotion recognition systems

What Success Looks Like at 90 Days
  • RNC OS running on the hardware platform with full cloud sync operational
  • Voice AI pipeline live: wake word detection, cloud LLM response, and TTS output
  • Health sensor Bluetooth integration complete
  • OTA update system functional

Why Join RNC
  • Ownership: You are joining at day one of a company with a clean cap table and a defined product. Your work ships to real users.
  • Mission: The senior care crisis is one of the most important problems of our generation. We are building the infrastructure to address it — and extending that platform to clinical health and defense behavioral health.
  • Proximity: Based in Shenzhen, you work directly with the manufacturing partner and have a direct line to the US founding team.
  • Growth: As the company grows, this role grows. The first software engineer in Shenzhen becomes the technical lead for the China engineering team.

Interview Process
  • Intro call with CEO — 30 minutes, background and culture fit
  • Technical review with the CTO — walk through the software architecture and discuss your approach
  • Founding team conversation — vision alignment and role definition

Robotics & Companies, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We believe in building a team as diverse as the people we serve.
