About the role
CoFuture delivers hands‑on STEM incursions that get students flying drones and writing real code. We’re looking for a School Drone Programs Instructor to help run our Drone Rescue Academy — an energetic, hands‑on program where students learn manual flight and Python‑based autonomous control.
This is a casual role that’s a great fit if you want flexible, rewarding work that fits around your studies/work.
What you’ll do
- Deliver engaging drone workshops to high school students
- Teach manual drone piloting — pitch, roll, throttle, yaw — through obstacle courses and relays
- Guide students through autonomous flight using Python, helping teams write and debug scripts to navigate 3D coordinate grids
- Run safety briefings and enforce protocols, including emergency “kill switch” procedures
- Manage hardware setup, device pairing, and troubleshoot real‑time coding and connection issues
- Bring high energy and keep students engaged across team‑based activities
What we’re looking for
- Final‑year university students in robotics, mechatronics, or a closely related engineering discipline
- Hands‑on experience tinkering with drones (highly regarded)
- Solid working knowledge of Python
- Confidence presenting to and managing groups of teenagers
- Reliable, personable, and comfortable thinking on your feet when tech doesn’t cooperate
- A current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one)
Nice to have
- Prior experience tutoring, mentoring, or working with school‑age students
Why CoFuture
- Flexible casual work that fits around your degree
- Get paid to share your passion for robotics and coding
- Build teaching, leadership, and communication skills that complement your technical background
- Inspire the next generation of engineers
