Job Summary:
The Senior DevOps/Cloud Engineer will provide expert platform engineering and operational support for a healthcare integration platform focused on eReferral workflows within electronic medical record environments. This role involves maintaining and enhancing CI/CD pipelines, managing AWS cloud infrastructure as code, deploying and troubleshooting applications on EC2 and ECS, and supporting critical integration engines and identity management systems to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable healthcare service delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments.
- Create, update, and troubleshoot AWS infrastructure as code using CloudFormation and AWS CDK in Python and JavaScript.
- Deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot workloads on Amazon EC2 and Amazon ECS, including container and runtime dependencies.
- Troubleshoot issues with Tomcat, Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, Linux, and container runtimes across multiple environments.
- Manage and support Mirth Connect integration engine running on Amazon ECS, including channel configuration, certificates, secrets, and connectivity.
- Build, maintain, patch, and promote standardized Linux images using AWS EC2 Image Builder pipelines.
- Administer database operations including PostgreSQL connectivity, backups, recovery, and performance monitoring.
- Administer and troubleshoot Amazon OpenSearch Service clusters, including health, capacity, indexes, and access controls.
- Configure and maintain AWS messaging and storage services such as Amazon SQS, Data Firehose, and S3.
- Maintain enterprise identity and access management, including NetIQ IAM and SMART on FHIR/OAuth configurations.
- Support secure connectivity and integration with external healthcare systems including eReferral platforms and IBM MDM.
- Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational diagnostics using AWS CloudWatch and related services.
- Support production deployments, incident response, root cause analysis, patching, capacity management, and continuous improvement.
- Produce and maintain infrastructure documentation, deployment guides, runbooks, recovery procedures, and knowledge transfer materials.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Senior-level experience in DevOps, cloud platform, or site reliability engineering supporting complex enterprise or healthcare applications.
- Strong hands-on experience with GitHub Actions CI/CD pipeline design, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in AWS infrastructure-as-code using CloudFormation and AWS CDK with Python and JavaScript.
- Experience operating and troubleshooting applications on Amazon EC2 and ECS, including Linux and containerized environments.
- Expertise in troubleshooting Tomcat, Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, Linux OS, and container runtimes.
- Experience building and maintaining Linux images with AWS EC2 Image Builder.
- Database administration skills for PostgreSQL or similar enterprise databases including backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
- Experience administering Amazon OpenSearch Service clusters and managing related operational tasks.
- Proficiency with AWS messaging and storage services: Amazon SQS, Data Firehose, and S3.
- Experience deploying and troubleshooting Mirth Connect integration engine on Amazon ECS.
- Knowledge of enterprise identity and access management platforms such as NetIQ, including SMART on FHIR/OAuth2/OIDC configurations.
- Strong production support skills including incident troubleshooting, technical documentation, change management, and stakeholder collaboration.
- Experience with AWS monitoring, logging, security, and configuration services such as CloudWatch, IAM, and Secrets Manager.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience supporting healthcare integration platforms such as Provincial Health Services Directory (PHSD), eReferral, or provider directories.
- Operational knowledge of SMART on FHIR launch, OAuth2/OIDC authentication flows, and FHIRCast protocols.
- Experience with Ontario eReferral solutions and platforms like RICOH, Novari, or Ocean.
- Familiarity with IBM Master Data Management (MDM) systems and enterprise master data management integrations.
- Experience supporting event-driven integration patterns including FHIR Pub/Sub, EventBridge, SNS, and SQS.
- Experience operating Java and Spring Boot applications on containerized AWS platforms.
- Experience with Node.js application support and deployment in enterprise AWS environments.
- Experience maintaining secure application connectivity and integrations in healthcare environments.
