Senior Java Developer

As a Senior Java Developer reporting to Director – Software Engineering, you’ll take end‑to‑end ownership of meaningful technical challenges — from understanding requirements to shipping production‑ready solutions. You’ll work across backend systems, security, and cross‑platform development, contributing to both new builds and the evolution of existing products. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions that meet or exceed product and client requirements.
• Build and maintain security‑focused applications of increasing scope and complexity.
• Extend and improve existing systems — adding functionality, enhancing performance, and adapting to new environments.
• Ensure cross‑platform compatibility across all deliverables.
• Monitor system improvements post‑deployment and iterate based on performance outcomes.
• Contribute to architecture, database design, and technical direction as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 6 years of strong, hands‑on Java development skills with a solid understanding of software design principles, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases — including design, analysis, and querying.
• Proven experience with continuous integration and deployment practices.
• Demonstrated ability to write secure, testable, and maintainable code.
• Experience with cross‑platform or multi‑environment development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with data warehousing or large‑scale data systems.
• Background or interest in application security best practices.

Location

This position will be located in Sydney, Australia and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 2 days a week in‑office (may increase to 3 days in the future). This is a permanent, full‑time role so candidates should have full working rights in Australia. To be eligible to apply, you must have Australian citizenship or permanent residency status.
