About the Business Area/Department
You will be part of the Amadeus Hospitality organization, responsible for building resilient, scalable, and high-performance services and products that support mission‑critical integrations across Amadeus products. The team works on backend services, cloud‑based components, partner integrations, and operational excellence to ensure seamless data exchange for global customers. This is a fast‑paced, highly collaborative environment with a strong focus on automation, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Summary of the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Development Engineer who will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of complex backend systems. You will work independently on complex topics, contribute to transversal initiatives, and support the team in delivering high‑quality, scalable solutions aligned with Amadeus standards.
Responsibilities
- Analyze functional and technical specifications and define user requirements for new or enhanced software solutions.
- Design, code, and implement backend services and distributed system technologies.
- Build scalable, reliable, and secure integrations using Kafka, web services, and cloud‑native components.
- Implement and optimize Couchbase‑based data models and storage mechanisms.
- Develop and execute unit, integration, performance, and package tests to ensure high‑quality delivery.
- Use Postman or Bruno for API testing and Splunk for monitoring, debugging, and operational incident analysis.
- Participate in validation cycles and fine‑tune deliverables based on customer or product feedback.
- Produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
- Provide on‑call production support as part of the team rotation and troubleshoot complex issues with a proactive mindset.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to process improvements and transversal initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong hands‑on experience in Java development.
- Proven experience with Kafka, Couchbase, web services, REST APIs, and API testing tools such as Postman or Bruno.
- Proven experience using Splunk for logs, dashboards, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to provide on‑call support in a production environment.
- Experience working in fast‑paced, agile environments.
