Job Description:
As a Senior Java Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting enterprise-grade Java-based applications and web services that power critical business integrations and operational processes. You will work within an Agile Scrum environment, collaborating closely with business stakeholders, architects, and cross-functional technology teams to deliver scalable, reliable, secure, and high-performing solutions. This role requires strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and modern software engineering practices, along with the ability to provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based applications and RESTful web services.
- Implement new features and enhancements aligned with architectural standards, development best practices, and business objectives.
- Develop clean, maintainable, testable, and efficient code using Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
- Optimize applications for performance, scalability, security, resiliency, and reliability.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Design and develop microservices-based applications and integration solutions.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software and application issues.
- Perform application maintenance, bug fixes, and production support activities.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and quality practices.
- Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and automated testing strategies.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance across the development team.
- Support CI/CD processes, release management, and deployment activities.
- Develop and maintain event-driven integration solutions using Kafka and related technologies.
- Create technical documentation, design specifications, and implementation artifacts.
- Monitor application health and performance using observability and monitoring tools.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to engineering best practices and innovation initiatives.
- Collaborate effectively across business, architecture, operations, and development teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 4+ years of hands-on software development experience with Java and related technologies.
- Strong expertise in Java application development and object-oriented programming principles.
- Extensive experience developing applications using Spring Boot and Spring Framework.
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices-based architectures.
- Knowledge and practical experience working with AI-enabled solutions, integrations, or development practices.
- Strong understanding of front-end and back-end integration patterns.
- Experience with modern software development practices including CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automated testing.
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies and quality-focused development practices.
- Experience developing integration tests and automated test suites using tools such as Cucumber.
- Experience working with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of technical deliverables.
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams.
- Experience working within enterprise-scale software development environments.
- Strong understanding of application security, scalability, and performance optimization techniques.
- 3+ years of experience creating Splunk queries, dashboards, monitoring solutions, and operational reporting preferred.
- Experience with Angular development and modern front-end technologies preferred.
- Experience working with SQL databases and relational data modeling preferred.
- Experience working with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases preferred.
- Experience developing Avro Kafka schemas and supporting event-streaming platforms preferred.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and enterprise integration patterns preferred.
- Experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical applications preferred.
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $40.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
