Robotics Sensor Engineer

This role requires a full relocation to Dubai

About the Role

We're looking for a Robotics Sensor Engineer to join an autonomous systems team working across multiple platforms. The role covers sensor integration end-to-end hardware bring-up, driver development, calibration pipelines, and outdoor field testing. You'll be working with cameras (RGB and thermal/IR), lidars, IMUs, GPS/RTK, and magnetometers, all running on NVIDIA Jetson embedded computers alongside robotics, perception, and navigation engineers.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Bringing up and validating cameras (RGB and thermal/IR), lidars, IMUs, GPS/RTK, and magnetometers on NVIDIA Jetson platforms (Orin, AGX, NX), including BSP adaptation, CSI/USB bring-up, and multi-sensor resource management
  • Writing and adapting ROS 2 and low-level embedded Linux drivers across MIPI CSI-2, UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, GigE Vision, and USB — including V4L2 and kernel module work where needed
  • Joining outdoor test campaigns: setting up sensor rigs, monitoring live data quality, and diagnosing faults in real conditions — dust, heat, vibration
  • Diagnosing hardware failures at component level: optics, power integrity, EMI, grounding, and environmental protection
  • Characterising sensors against accuracy, latency, and SWaP requirements, and evaluating emerging hardware candidates
  • Developing and maintaining intrinsic/extrinsic calibration pipelines for cameras, lidars, and IMUs, optimised for embedded boards and repeatable across deployments
  • Producing integration guides and test reports that build lasting team knowledge

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Hands-on NVIDIA Jetson experience (JetPack/L4T): BSP adaptation, CSI/USB camera bring-up, power and thermal profiling, multi-sensor scheduling
  • Embedded Linux skills: device tree, V4L2, kernel modules, and interface protocols (MIPI CSI-2, UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, USB)
  • Experience writing or porting ROS/ROS 2 drivers on resource-constrained hardware
  • Proven integration of heterogeneous sensor suites — cameras, lidar, IMU, GNSS — on robotic platforms
  • Hardware debugging with oscilloscopes, logic analysers, multimeters, and thermal cameras
  • Solid understanding of camera optical principles and common failure modes (focus drift, contamination, stray light)
  • IMU and GNSS/RTK integration experience, including sensor fusion fundamentals
  • Comfortable with outdoor field testing in varying environmental conditions

What's On Offer

  • Competitive salary package (discussed on application)
  • Relocation support for candidates outside the UAE
  • Work across live UAV, UGV, and marine autonomous platforms
