Software Developer Contractor (Midrand – On-site)

Overview:
Our client is seeking a hands-on Software Developer to maintain and enhance legacy systems while supporting modernisation in a high-pressure operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop new features and system enhancements
• Maintain and stabilise legacy systems
• Troubleshoot production and critical issues
• Support real-time operational systems
• Ensure security and data protection compliance
• Collaborate across business, ops, and IT
• Contribute to technical and architectural improvements

Core Skills (Mandatory):

• C++ (strong proficiency)
• SQL & Oracle RDBMS
• Linux/Unix
• Secure coding (OWASP, input validation, access control)
• Oracle Pro*C

Requirements:

• 3+ years development experience
• Degree/Diploma advantageous
• Proven delivery of production-ready solutions
• On-site in Midrand (full-time, NDA required)

Advantageous:

• React / Next.js, Go, PHP
• Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Rule-based systems, large datasets, batch processing
• Real-time / 24/7 environments (e.g. logistics, transport, workforce planning)

• Able to work with complex, legacy codebases and incremental changes
