Software Developer (Java | Kafka | GCP) — Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Java Developer with strong experience in Java, Apache Kafka, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join a high-performing technology team delivering scalable, real-time data solutions.
In this role, you will design, develop, and support cloud-native applications and event-driven architectures while collaborating with teams across Canada, the United States, and India.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Java applications and microservices.
- Build and support real-time streaming solutions using Apache Kafka.
- Develop scalable, event-driven architectures and data pipelines.
- Deploy and maintain cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Work with technologies such as Dataflow, BigQuery, GKE, Cloud Storage, and Terraform.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and contribute to platform stability.
- Participate in production support and incident management on a rotating basis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong expertise in Java and object-oriented programming.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and distributed streaming platforms.
- Solid understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience with production support, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Apache Flink.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
