Position overview:WTax is looking for a software developer to join our Johannesburg team. We’re looking for someone who is collaborative, curious, and detail -orientated with strong technical fundamentals and a passion for building high quality solutions. You’ll work as part of a supportive squad, developing innovative software that has a real impact on our mission to transform tax recovery through automation and intelligent systems.
Key responsibilities: Build readable, maintainable, and modular software using modern engineering tools and practices. Design and deliver well -tested solutions, applying test -driven development and strong quality standards. Develop and integrate RESTful microservices as part of a scalable, distributed platform. Work within an established development lifecycle, following best practices such as code reviews, CI, and automation. Collaborate closely with your squad, contributing to technical discussions and shared decision -making. Develop an understanding of the bigger picture and how your work creates real impact for the business and clients. Stay curious about new technologies and ideas and proactively explore how they could improve our systems and ways of working. What you bring: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/ Mathematics/related field or equivalent experience EXPERIENCE : Junior Developer: 0 -3 years experience Intermediate Developer: 3 -5 years experience Senior Developer: 5+ years experience COMPETENCIES: Interest in software development and object -oriented programming, with exposure to platforms or frameworks such as Salesforce Apex, Java Spring, or similar. Ability to work effectively in an Agile team, collaborating closely with others to deliver quality outcomes. Strong communication skills and a positive, team-first mindset. You’re building high-quality, well-tested, and maintainable software using test-driven development and modern engineering best practices, and you take pride in the standard of your work.
