Tradition is currently seeking to appoint a Software Developer to be based in our Johannesburg office.

Responsibilities Contributing to the development of a real-time financial derivative pricing platform Building and maintaining software components across the application stack Working with experienced engineers to design, develop, test, and deploy new features Learning how complex pricing and market data models are translated into software solutions Writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code Participating in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and technical discussions Supporting the monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of applications Using modern development tools, including AI-assisted engineering tools, to improve productivity and code quality Collaborating with product owners, business analysts, and subject matter experts to understand requirements and deliver solutions Qualifications A minimum of 3 years of software development experience A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience) Knowledge of at least one programming language such as Go, C++, Rust, Java, Python, or C# Understanding of software development fundamentals including object-oriented programming, testing, and version control Interest in distributed systems, data processing, and high-performance applications Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn Good communication and collaboration skills Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced engineering environment Desirable Skills Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS through academic, personal, or professional projects Familiarity with databases, APIs, and modern software development tools Exposure to Agile development methodologies Interest in financial markets, trading systems, or data-intensive applications Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, or container technologies such as Docker Use of AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, or learning
