AI & Data Platforms (AiDP) is IS&T's engine for AI-powered innovation. The team brings together data, application development, and machine learning — including generative AI — along with data services and customer success functions, to help IS&T build solutions more efficiently and streamline the adoption and embedding of generative AI across Apple.

Description

You will be joining a team of experts working on modern database technologies, distributed systems and storage engineering, helping push the limits of open-source PostgreSQL in order to offer enterprise-class performance, availability and durability to our customers, as well as to ensure reliable administration. Your work will be deployed at massive scale, serving millions of queries per second over many petabytes of data across our data centers worldwide and impact the experiences of many millions of users of key Apple services.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced understanding of data structures and algorithms in storage and indexing, coding in C, C++.
Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix Internals, Systems/Application Design & Architecture.
Knowledge of Linux Kernel development is a plus.
Expertise with code performance and optimisation is highly preferred.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, solid collaboration skills.

Minimum Qualifications

8+ Years of relevant experience in IT Industry, with demonstrated experience in developing database systems, storage engines, distributed systems.
Experience with proficiency in C, C++, Rust.
Experience developing software in open source communities.
Knowledge of the internals of relational databases such as PostgreSQL (or MySQL, MariaDB).
