The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Networking team is looking for software engineers who have a passion for diving deep while also being able to see the big picture. We are re‑engineering our virtual networking control plane as part of Amazon’s initiative to get EC2 performance to be as close as possible to that of bare metal. This role involves building, scaling, and maintaining high‑performance software to streamline the management of millions of Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) configurations.
As a Software Engineer with strong Linux coding skills, a passion for improving quality, solving challenging problems, and curiosity about virtual networking, you will own major deliverables and all aspects of the development cycle: scoping, design, implementation, and testing. You will be encouraged to exercise judgment in proactively determining and recommending the best features, designs, and support models based on business objectives, timelines, and resource constraints.
Key job responsibilitiesAWS Utility Computing (UC) delivers innovative cloud services from foundational offerings like S3 and EC2 to industry‑leading products that distinguish AWS in the industry. UC team members support the development of Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, Platform, and Productivity Apps services, including specialized security solutions. Our team actively supports new members through knowledge‑sharing and mentorship. With diverse experience levels, we provide one‑on‑one mentoring and thorough code reviews. The base salary range for this position is USA, WA, Seattle – 143,700.00 – 194,400.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
