Software Development Engineer

What You'll Do
Avalara is accelerating delivery of AI-enabled capabilities across our compliance platform to improve customer experience, increase engineering velocity, and scale global operations. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build reliable, scalable systems that support global transaction growth and help teams use artificial intelligence in practical, secure, and measurable ways. You will work with engineering, product, and business teams to deliver backend and frontend capabilities that improve automation, data processing, and customer insight. In this role you will be expected to raise engineering standards through ownership, technical judgment, mentoring, and responsible use of AI.
You will report to the Senior Manager of Software Engineering, and you will work remotely, anywhere in Brazil.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be
Exposure of a software development role, shipping complex applications to large scale production environments.
Basic Understanding of Relational Databases (Postgres).
Good object-oriented programming technique and debugging skills.
Experience with data structures and algorithm.
Experience working in an Agile team.
Someone who loves to write optimized code.
Experience approaching a problem from different angles, analyzing pros and cons of different solutions.
Motivated, persistent and "Never Give Up" attitude.
