Senior Software Engineer, Compute Platform (Python/AWS) | Elite Boston Hedge Fund
One of the top Quant Hedge Funds globally has an exciting opportunity to join a small team that is designing and building their next-gen research platform. This is a rapidly growing group that’s had exceptional performance over the past decade. They’re a heavily engineering driven firm with a highly collaborative, team-first culture. This is a high ownership, high visibility seat working directly with Quant Researchers to build the compute platform, observability, and AI systems (among several others) that power their automated, model-driven trading systems. Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and operate the core platforms that power quant research, portfolio construction, and automated trading workflows
- Partner closely with quantitative researchers, traders, and other engineers to translate complex research and operational requirements into robust, scalable systems
- Develop and maintain high-performance, distributed compute and workflow platforms spanning on‑premise and cloud environments
- Build and evolve cloud-native infrastructure using modern containerization, orchestration, and infrastructure‑as‑code tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines)
- Manage and optimize compute, storage, and data infrastructure to support large‑scale research workloads and time‑sensitive trading systems
- Contribute to architectural decisions around workflow orchestration, data platforms, access controls, and dependency management across a heterogeneous technology stack
- Build tooling and internal services that enable efficient data analysis, modeling, backtesting, simulation, and strategy deployment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering (or similar field)
- At least 4+ years of experience building applications or platforms with Python and AWS
- Experience working with complex, large scale distributed systems
