Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.
Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a full time Senior Software Engineer to serve as a Deputy-Software Architect for the CPS program. The Senior Software Engineer will serve as a Deputy-Software architect for the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) hypersonic missile program, defining and driving the end‑to‑end software strategy for guidance, navigation, and control systems. This role blends deep technical expertise in real‑time, fault‑tolerant software with system‑level integration, ensuring robust, secure, and maintainable code that meets stringent performance and safety requirements across a high‑tempo, defense‑focused development environment.
Basic Qualifications
- Solid technical engineering background in aerospace, software, systems or similar
- Experience developing software or GN&C algorithms/models in a company setting
- Familiar with systems engineering concepts and processes
- A passion to challenge and grow yourself and others
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
Desired Skills
- Experience leading FSW Systems Engineering Teams in the development of design and architecture
- Demonstrated understanding and application of Systems Engineering and a Systems Thinking mindset
- Experience with Model Based System Engineering for complex Software Solutions
- Requirements development and management for complex Software Solutions
- Validation and Verification of Complex Embedded Flight Software Systems
- Experience working with groups and organizations outside of your immediate product area
- Ability to manage multiple, often-competing requests, effectively prioritizing the most urgent ones
- Ability to look across the entire system to identify potential impacts of a change
- Ability to plan out and accomplish tasks with minimal oversight and support
- Passion to apply creative problem solving and creative thinking to accomplish what seems impossible
- Excellent presentation and written communication skills
- Active DOD Secret clearance
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $110300.00 - $204900.00
