As a Software Engineer, you wont simply be implementing someone elses designs. Youll be involved in understanding problems, contributing ideas, engineering solutions, and working alongside experienced professionals who are passionate about building excellent software.

What Youll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality Java applications.
- Work with experienced Software Engineers and learn from a collaborative, technically strong team.
- Apply object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
- Build scalable, reliable, and maintainable software solutions.
- Contribute to projects involving areas such as:
- Business automation platforms
- Mobile applications
- GIS and mapping solutions
- Network integrations
- Hardware provisioning
- Digital payment platforms
- Engage with teams and customers to understand requirements and help create effective technical solutions.
Technical Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone with:
- A good understanding of Java programming fundamentals and syntax.
- Exposure to HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with SQL and relational database concepts.
- Exposure to Object Relational Mapping technologies (such as Hibernate or similar).
- Exposure to Java application servers or servlet containers (such as Tomcat, GlassFish, or Jetty).
- Experience using Java development environments such as IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse, or NetBeans.
- Practical database experience with platforms such as MySQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Advantageous Skills
The following experience would be beneficial:
- Understanding of version control and software development processes within a team environment.
- Exposure to Linux environments.
- Knowledge of Internet and LAN/WAN technologies.
- Exposure to business processes, accounting concepts, or enterprise systems.

Qualifications
You will ideally have:
- A relevant degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field with strong academic results; or
- At least three years commercial software development experience.
- Strong Mathematics results in Matric (Grade 12) will be highly advantageous.
