As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Commercial & Investment Bank Identity Engineering team, you will design, build, and modernize authentication and authorization platforms that serve some of the world's most important corporations, governments, and institutions. You'll collaborate with a global network of technologists to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality solutions across channels and domains. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge authentication technologies while contributing to a firm entrusted with holding trillions in assets across more than 100 countries
Job responsibilities
Design and develop secure authentication and authorization solutions across customer-facing channels and enterprise platforms
Modernize identity and access management systems, including authentication and authorization frameworks aligned to open standards
Evaluate and prototype internal and vendor solutions for user authentication, including anti-fraud and biometric capabilities
Integrate APIs and SDKs for both niche authentication solutions and open standards such as OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and SAML
Collaborate with cross-functional and globally distributed engineering teams to deliver high-quality, business-valued outcomes
Drive quality and efficiency across the software development lifecycle through strong engineering practices and code standards
Contribute to technical direction by setting and modeling high standards for design, development, and testing
Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards
Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automations
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and proficient applied experience
Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages, with strong preference for Java
Experience with application and data architecture principles, including design patterns and business process integration
Familiarity with cloud-native development on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
Ability to work collaboratively across local and global teams, building relationships to achieve shared goals
Flexibility to work across multiple technology stacks and application environments
Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs
Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Experience with modern authentication protocols and standards such as OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, or federated identity solutions
Exposure to anti-fraud technologies or biometric authentication integrations within customer-facing applications
Experience working in regulated financial services or similarly complex enterprise environments
Familiarity with identity and access management platforms or vendor solutions
Knowledge of API security best practices and SDK integration patterns
