About The Role

We’re scaling development here at Sportsbet and are looking for multiple Software Engineers - Java to join our Betting Product Technology team in Melbourne. We are seeking various levels from junior to senior.

This is an exciting opportunity for a backend engineer who thrives on designing and building reliable, scalable systems and wants to make a meaningful impact in a fast‑paced, technology‑driven environment.

You will bring solid technical capability, sound engineering judgement and a genuine sense of ownership. You’ll contribute not only through hands‑on development, but also by uplifting engineering standards and helping drive a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include

• Design, build and evolve scalable backend services and platforms
• Deliver high‑quality software with a focus on maintainability, reliability and performance
• Own and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and DevOps practices
• Lead technical design and solutioning for complex business problems
• Identify and proactively manage technical debt, system risks and opportunities for improvement

About You

You combine technical depth with professionalism and accountability. You enjoy solving meaningful problems, working collaboratively across teams and lifting the capability of those around you. You are adaptable, delivery‑focused and motivated by building great systems and strong engineering practices.

• Experience in Java and Spring Boot.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices and event‑driven architecture.
• Experience with messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka.
• Working knowledge of AWS, including services such as EC2, ECS, VPC, CloudFormation, CloudWatch and RDS.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing and engineering tooling such as Docker, Jenkins and Ansible.
• Understanding of observability, secure coding and modern software engineering practices.

For the Senior Software Engineer role, we are seeking proven experience in technical ownership and leadership.
