Position Overview
As a C++ Developer working on Monetisation in Candy Crush Soda Saga's Gameplay and Monetisation Domain, you will help build and evolve the systems that drive player growth and IAP performance for one of King's biggest live games. You will design, build, and test monetisation features that millions of players experience every day – from purchase flows to progression‑linked offers and the systems that make spending feel relevant and worthwhile.
Your Role Within the Kingdom
- Design, build, test, maintain and optimise monetisation features and systems in Soda's live mobile game – from purchase flows and offer systems to live‑ops content that drives engagement and revenue.
- Deliver high‑quality C++ code with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and performance.
- Work on complex engineering problems, apply sound judgment to choose practical solutions, and ship them at a healthy cadence.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, UX/UI, Data Scientists, and fellow engineers to shape monetisation experiences that genuinely add value for players and the business – and that are quick to test, learn from, and iterate on.
- Use live data and A/B test results to validate your work and inform subsequent decisions – experimentation lies at the heart of how our team operates.
- Share knowledge, support junior colleagues, participate in code and design reviews, and engage with engineering forums across Soda.
- Use AI development tools as part of how you build, debug, and review code – or be keen to adopt them.
Skills to Create Thrills
Key Attributes
- Curious, analytical, and motivated to understand how the systems you work on connect to the player experience and the business.
- Humble, flexible, and collaborative – contributing openly in a cross‑craft team, giving clear updates, and welcoming feedback.
- Passion for programming with a strong commitment to quality and polish in your code.
Experience
- Hands‑on experience in software development, delivering standard engineering work to a high standard.
- Experience building, testing, and maintaining software features in a production environment.
- Experience in game development, mobile development, or performance‑critical applications is a plus – as is exposure to monetisation systems, live ops, or A/B test‑driven work.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong C++ skills, with enjoyment of working closely with the language to build features and systems.
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles, with the ability to solve a wide range of technical issues in practical and creative ways.
- Sound coding fundamentals – writing high‑quality, well‑structured, maintainable code, and applying effective testing practices.
- Comfort using AI development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) – or willingness to adopt them as part of day‑to‑day engineering work.
- Comfort working in an experimentation‑driven environment – able to make decisions informed by A/B test results and live data.
How We Work
Our Team First, Hybrid Working model empowers teams across the Kingdom to decide how they want to work together, with a mix of in‑office and home working.
If you're excited about this role but don't meet every single requirement, we'd still love to hear from you. We know that candidates from under‑represented backgrounds may hesitate to apply unless they match every point, and we are interested in your potential as well as your experience.
