First Engineer - Contract, fast growing startup

AI answers are replacing search results. When someone asks ChatGPT \"best hotel in Florence,\" they get a name, not a list of links. Rankwit exists to make sure that name belongs to our clients.

We're an early-stage startup backed by Nana Bianca, focused on hotels and travel destinations. We're building the reference platform for GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and auto-optimization in the hospitality sector.

We're looking for our first engineer. You'll work directly with the CTO on architecture, product, and infrastructure.

The Role

The product monitors thousands of queries per day across multiple AI models, turns responses into measurable signals, and generates content optimized for generative visibility. It scales from 250-page sites to multi-million page portals.

Challenges

Mass LLM response acquisition (thousands/day), identity recognition and evaluation
A multilingual content generation engine optimized for GEO and SEO
Monitoring systems with strict rate limits and one shot to succeed
One-click optimization mechanism that optimizes sites on-the-fly
As a early stage startup, production direction will change often and we must adapt quickly

What We're Looking For

At least one year of experience building with AI tools (Claude Code, Codex, or similar)
Full-Stack: Python (FastAPI, Celery), Next.js, PostgreSQL, AWS. Strong front-end or back-end experience only is welcome
Real autonomy: you make technical decisions and own them
Familiarity with SEO/GEO
Fluent in Italian and English
Full-time availability

Initial freelance contract with compensation ranging from 30k to 42k
