government and research-oriented applications. Our work brings together cloud technologies, software

As our software engineering capability continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Software Engineer

to join our team in Sydney.

The Role

As a Software Engineer, you will be involved in the analysis, design, development, integration, testing and

deployment of software and data-driven solutions supporting Novel Aquatech's software engineering, IoT

and technology projects.

You will work across cloud applications, data integration, APIs and enterprise systems, collaborating with

technical and business stakeholders to translate requirements into secure, reliable and maintainable

software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Analyse business, technical and system requirements and translate them into appropriate software designs and technical solutions.
  2. Design, develop, test and maintain software applications, integration components and data processing solutions.
  3. Develop and maintain cloud-based applications, services and integration workflows using Microsoft Azure and related technologies.
  4. Design and implement data integration and ETL/ELT processes connecting databases, applications,

APIs and cloud services.

  1. Develop reusable and parameterised software components and integration frameworks.
  2. Design and implement interfaces using REST APIs, JSON, XML and other integration technologies.
  3. Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, database objects and data transformation logic.
  4. Integrate applications with relational databases, cloud data platforms and external enterprise systems.
  5. Participate in the design and development of software supporting IoT, monitoring, automation and operational technology applications.
  6. Apply appropriate software engineering principles relating to scalability, security, reliability, maintainability and performance.
  7. Conduct unit testing, integration testing, debugging and technical troubleshooting.
  8. Investigate software defects, production incidents and integration failures and implement appropriate corrective solutions.
  9. Implement application logging, monitoring and error-handling mechanisms.
  10. Participate in code reviews, source-control management and continuous integration/deployment activities.
  11. Support software releases, deployment, configuration and production-readiness activities.
  12. Prepare technical specifications, system documentation, implementation documentation and operational support material.
  13. Liaise with business users, engineers, project stakeholders and external technology providers regarding system requirements and technical solutions.
  14. Contribute to ongoing improvement of software development standards, development processes and technical architecture.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  1. A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  2. Demonstrated professional experience in software development, systems integration or enterprise application development.
  3. Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based application or integration solutions.
  4. Experience developing solutions using SQL and at least one general-purpose programming language such as Java, Python or JavaScript.
  5. Experience designing and integrating REST APIs and working with JSON/XML-based data exchange.
  6. Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  7. Experience with data integration or ETL technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Talend or SSIS.
  8. Understanding of software development lifecycle practices including analysis, design, development, testing, deployment and support.
  9. Experience with source control and DevOps practices using tools such as Git and Azure DevOps.
  10. Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  11. Ability to investigate complex software and integration issues independently.
  12. Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
