Senior Software Engineer (Node), JavaScript SDK (Winnipeg)

About This Role
We’re looking for a seasoned JavaScript engineer to join our growing JavaScript SDK team. In this role you’ll innovate across server-side and edge runtimes—including Node.js, Bun, Deno, and Cloudflare Workers—while shaping the tools used by millions of developers worldwide. Responsibilities
Explore and extend our suite of JavaScript SDKs for a variety of runtimes, delivering reliable APIs for developers. Plan, implement, and ship code; write unit and integration tests and produce clear documentation. Use AI tools to enhance productivity and focus on solving complex problems. Represent Sentry at open‑source communities such as TC39, the Node.js core team, and the OpenTelemetry SIG. Collaborate with Customer Operations, address critical bugs, and engage directly with the user community on GitHub and at conferences. Ideal Candidate

At least 5 years as a Software Engineer, web developer, or similar role. Deep expertise with TypeScript/JavaScript for web applications, libraries, or SDKs. Hands‑on experience with Node.js and one or more of Bun, Deno, or Cloudflare Workers, understanding differing module systems, APIs, and deployment models. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Based in the Toronto, Canada area or willing to relocate. Bonus Points
Experience with WinterCG, Web‑interoperable Runtimes Community Group, or similar initiatives. Familiarity with OpenTelemetry instrumentation in server‑side or edge contexts. History of contributing to or maintaining open‑source libraries. Engagement in open‑source committees or working groups. The base salary range that Sentry reasonably expects to pay for this position is CAD $200,000 to $295,000. The actual base salary will be determined by various relevant factors. Successful candidates will be eligible to participate in Sentry’s employee benefit plans/programs, including incentive compensation, equity grants, paid time off, and group health insurance coverage.
