Role Summary

As a key member of our technology team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, adapting, and implementing both short-term and strategic solutions to meet our information technology needs. Your work will encompass new and existing applications, systems, databases, and associated infrastructure. You will review and interpret system requirements and business processes, and play a hands-on role in coding, testing, debugging, and deploying software solutions. Collaboration is central to this role—you will work closely with Quants, Portfolio Managers, and Analysts to define requirements and testing strategies, and participate in technical and design discussions to deliver solutions that enable timely, business-critical decision making. The applications you build will have daily impact for our Front Office Investment associates.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects or individual work streams, taking ownership of deliverables and processes within your area of expertise.
  • Provide guidance and set standards for your work and, at times, for the work of others.
  • Work independently and serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues.
  • Utilize internal tools to manage AWS-based services.
  • Integrate with RESTful and GRPC APIs.
  • Contribute to unit and integration testing, and play a role in maintaining and enhancing our CI/CD pipeline.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Act as a subject matter expert within one or more phases of the software development lifecycle, leading significant portions of the development process.
  • Help establish best practices within your team.
  • Lead code reviews and provide constructive feedback on design and code.
  • Take responsibility for managing technical debt in your solutions.
  • Lead small project teams when required.
  • Approach complex problems systematically and make informed tactical and strategic decisions.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adapt solutions as new information emerges.
  • Mentor junior team members, offering support and guidance in a way that builds their confidence.
  • Proactively assist colleagues and suggest improvements to team practices.

Business Knowledge:

  • Collaborate directly with business partners to understand their needs.
  • Make decisions with an eye toward both current and future business priorities, balancing business and fiscal considerations.
  • Effectively communicate business requirements and transform them into technology solutions.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience) and 5+ years of progressive experience working with Python.
  • Deep hands-on experience with AWS services such as ECS, Fargate, Lambda, SNS, SQS, S3, DynamoDB, Application Load Balancers, CloudFront, CloudWatch, IAM, and others.
  • Extensive experience with Python frameworks and tools (e.g., NumPy, Pandas).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Familiarity with multiple programming paradigms (object-oriented, functional) and solid grasp of software design patterns.
  • Dedication to quality through automated testing, code reviews, and continuous integration/delivery.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with R is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and instruments.
  • Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for learning new technologies.

Work Flexibility
