Senior Software Engineer - React / Node.js (Contract)
This newly created role offers the opportunity to work on a greenfields digital initiative and play a key role in their digital transformation, working alongside high-performing squads to deliver scalable full stack solutions - Multiple roles.
Role: Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack Engineer - Frontend weighted.
Company: Financial services.
Location: Sydney CBD - Hybrid (3 days in-office)
Contract Length: 6 months initial with a view to extend.
Day Rate: $1,000/day - $1,100 incl super.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of scalable, secure frontend and backend systems
- Champion modern technologies including ReactJS/NextJS, microservices, BFFs, and cloud infrastructure
- Drive technical delivery, architectural decisions, and squad-level engineering standards
- Oversee DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and platform operational readiness
- Mentor engineers and collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, QA, architecture, and vendors
Skills & Experience Required:
- 7+ years in software engineering.
- Deep expertise in TypeScript/JavaScript - NextJS OR ReactJS, state management (Redux/Context API), and modern frontend frameworks & backend - NodeJS/NestJS.
- Strong backend development skills across microservices, BFFs, and event-driven architectures
- Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native platforms
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and a strategic mindset aligned with modern delivery practices (Insurance/Financial Services experience a bonus)
- Nice-to-have - Integration and Authentication SSO experience.
