Job Title Name:
Consultant – Software Engineer (.NET & Site-core)
JOB PURPOSE
The Consultant is responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in developing and supporting new and existing software products at HCA Healthcare. This individual will analyze business requirements, perform design tasks, construct, test, and implement cloud-native solutions in an Agile development environment, and provide mentorship to other developers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Development Standards
- Ensure staff engineers adhere to HCA Healthcare’s established standards and procedures for development activities.
- Maintain appropriate code and version control through designated application development software.
Project Management
- Lead and manage development projects from inception through implementation.
- Oversee the complete project lifecycle, including planning, elaboration, development, testing, and deployment.
Testing and Reviews
- Ensure completion of unit testing by employees for their code.
- Participate in and oversee peer/code reviews to maintain high-quality software standards.
User Support
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and user support.
- Work directly with end users at all organizational levels to resolve issues and improve the overall user experience.
Performance Metrics
- Establish baseline key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Gather and analyze operating metrics to evaluate the impact of new technology adoption before and after implementation.
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance technology adoption.
- Add, modify, or remove processes as needed to improve efficiency and outcomes.
Training
- Conduct training sessions and ensure appropriate training is provided to support effective adoption of new technologies.
Software Development Lifecycle
- Lead the software development lifecycle for projects focused on stabilizing, enhancing, and expanding application capabilities.
Requirement Gathering
- Gather requirements from product owners and business stakeholders.
- Author user stories with strong acceptance criteria.
- Prioritize stories, accept or reject completed work, coordinate with technical teams, and remove team roadblocks.
Staff Management
- Manage staff involved in the software development process, including developers, business analysts, quality assurance, and support personnel.
Application Support
- Manage ongoing application support by ensuring tickets are assigned appropriately and resolved in line with or exceeding defined service level agreements (SLAs).
Agile Principles
- Evangelize and implement Agile development principles across the department and among HCA Healthcare stakeholders.
Technology Evaluation
- In collaboration with HCA Healthcare architects, evaluate proposed innovative technologies for departmental usage and organizational fit.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with corporate and divisional leadership, client executives, clients, and project managers to schedule, staff, and deliver application enhancements.
