Position Summary

We are seeking a Software Engineer III to design, build, and maintain secure, scalable applications that support process engineering and automation initiatives. In this role, you will develop AI-enabled websites, internal tools, dashboards, and application programming interfaces that operate in a compliance-driven environment. The role requires hands-on experience across the software development life cycle, from requirements analysis and architecture through testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. The ideal candidate brings strong full-stack engineering experience, applies secure development practices throughout the build process, and uses AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and enhance solutions.

Work you'll do

As a Software Engineer III on the Process Engineering and Automation team, you will be responsible for...

  • Design, build, and maintain full-stack web applications, including user interfaces, databases, and server-side services, aligned to program requirements and security standards
  • Own assigned features across the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment support, and maintenance
  • Develop and enhance applications using Python, HTML, CSS, .NET, and PowerShell, with security controls and secure coding practices incorporated throughout development
  • Integrate artificial intelligence capabilities into applications, including large language model features, agentic workflows, intelligent search, and AI-assisted user experiences
  • Create and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; participate in code reviews; and document application programming interfaces, data models, and architectural decisions

The team

The Process Engineering and Automation team helps improve business processes through technology-enabled solutions. The team works across automation, artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, agentic workflows, and scripting tools to develop scalable solutions that support operational efficiency and business needs. Team members collaborate to design, build, and enhance tools that solve complex process challenges in secure and highly regulated environments.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years of experience in application development, including test-driven development
  • 4+ years of experience with Python and full-stack web development technologies, including React, HTML, CSS, .NET, and application programming interfaces (APIs)
  • 4+ years of experience across the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with polygraph
  • Ability to travel 10-25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

  • Experience with PostgreSQL schema design and relational database development
  • Experience building applications with React and .NET
  • Experience implementing security controls aligned to Open Worldwide Application Security Project Top 10 guidance
  • Experience integrating large language model capabilities, agentic workflows, or intelligent search into applications
  • Experience writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests in a continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) environment
  • Experience supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) documentation or security review processes in classified environments

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Maryland, Deloitte is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to Maryland and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $119,000 to $198,400.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
