Title: Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer – Group Technology & Transformation (GRi D)

Old Mutual is a premier African financial services organization. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining complex web applications, driving architectural decisions, and mentoring developers within the team.

Key Responsibilities Lead end‑to‑end design, development, and maintenance of web applications, ensuring high standards for functionality, performance, and user experience. Develop responsive and user‑friendly interfaces using HTML, CSS, and Java Script, collaborating closely with design teams. Manage server‑side development with programming languages and frameworks such as Node.js, Python, Ruby, and Django. Design, optimize, and manage database schemas, queries, and interactions using My SQL, Postgre SQL, Mongo DB, and other databases. Utilize web application frameworks and libraries to streamline development, enhance functionality, and provide technical leadership. Drive architectural decisions, system design, and code reviews to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions. Lead codebase management with Git or other version control systems, establishing best practices for collaboration and version tracking. Establish testing strategies, develop unit tests, and debug and optimize code for performance and reliability. Integrate APIs and third‑party services with a focus on security, scalability, and efficiency. Implement Dev Ops practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud services for deployment and scaling. Mentor and collaborate with junior and intermediate developers, fostering team growth and knowledge sharing. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience). Minimum 8 years of experience as a Full‑Stack Software Engineer delivering complex projects. Expertise in front‑end technologies such as Next.js, Type Script, HTML, CSS, Java Script, React, Vue.js, and modern frontend practices. Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (Grafana, Dynatrace) and analytics tracking tools (Google Analytics4). Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages (Java Script, Python, Ruby) and experience with web application frameworks. In‑depth knowledge of relational and No SQL database systems, including schema design, optimization, and complex query writing. Strong problem‑solving and debugging skills focused on optimizing application performance. Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities. Commitment to staying updated with emerging industry trends and technologies. Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and microservices architecture. Employment Equity
