Who we are looking forYou will be joining our team as a hands-on Snowflake Lead, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data solutions. This role requires strong expertise in Snowflake, data engineering, and cloud-based data platforms, along with a solid understanding of data governance, control environments, and regulatory requirements.This role will play a critical role in developing and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring data quality and availability, and supporting business-critical reporting and analytics. You will work across multiple teams to enable efficient, reliable, and scalable data processing in a fast-paced environment. This role will also support the adoption of AI-driven capabilities within data platforms, helping improve data quality, automation, and efficiency across business-critical workflows.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data models using SnowflakeBuild and optimize workflows for data ingestion, transformation, and reportingEnsure high data quality, integrity, and consistency across data platformsAnalyze and optimize Snowflake performance (query tuning, storage optimization, cost control)Break down complex data requirements into structured, implementable solutionsIdentify dependencies across upstream and downstream systems (e.g., source systems, reporting layers) and proactively manage themTroubleshoot data issues and implement durable fixes to prevent recurrenceDevelop and enhance data processes with a strong focus on automation, scalability, and reliabilityDefine and track key metrics related to data pipelines, performance, and qualityEnsure visibility into data flows, pipeline health, and processing outcomesPartner with business and technology teams to translate requirements into data solutionsClearly communicate risks, issues, and progress to stakeholdersSupport production releases, validate changes, and ensure stability of data platformsEnsure compliance with data governance, audit, and security requirementsSupport audit requests, controls validation, and remediation activities where neededSkillsetStrong expertise in Snowflake, including:Data modeling (star/snowflake schemas)Query optimization and performance tuningSnowflake architecture and best practicesExperience with:SQL and advanced data transformation logicPipeline orchestrationCloud platforms (Azure)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to handle large-scale data processing and troubleshoot complex data issuesExperience working with structured and semi-structured dataStrong communication skills – able to explain data issues and solutions clearlyAbility to work across teams in a matrix environmentProactive ownership and accountability for deliverablesAbility to prioritize work, manage multiple deliverables, and meet tight deadlinesStrong attention to detail and focus on data accuracy and qualityContinuous improvement mindset with focus on automationEducation & Preferred Qualifications12+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or financial services technologyStrong hands-on experience with Snowflake in a production environmentExperience working in complex, cross-functional data ecosystemsFamiliarity with regulatory reporting, financial data platforms, or control environmentsExperience supporting production systems and handling high-priority data issuesAbility to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving prioritiesWhat success looks like in this roleReliable, scalable data pipelines with minimal production issuesClear ownership of data flows and dependencies across systemsImproved data quality and transparency for business usersStrong collaboration across teams with no delivery gapsProactive identification and resolution of issues before they impact deliveryAbout State StreetAcross the globe, institutional investors rely on us to help them manage risk, respond to challenges, and drive performance and profitability.
