My client is a decision- support platform. It helps companies understand markets and prices so they can make smarter commercial decisions.
This is a hands-on engineering leadership role where you're expected to:
Still write code (about 60% of your time)
Lead architecture and make key technical decisions
Manage and develop a team (about 40%)
Drive adoption of AI-assisted development practices
Own delivery outcomes end-to-end
It's essentially a 'player-coach' role: part senior engineer, part manager.
Deep Technical Credibility
Strong Node.js + TypeScript + SQL
Experience building scalable distributed systems
Comfortable with cloud platforms and production environments
Able to set architecture direction, not just implement
This is not a people-manager-only role - they want someone who can still build core systems.
AI-Driven Engineering Mindset
Use AI for code generation, testing, refactoring
Coach others on safe and effective AI usage
Improve productivity via AI tools and workflows
Translation: my client wants someone already experimenting with things like:
GitHub Copilot / Cursor / ChatGPT workflows
Automated test generation
AI-assisted debugging
Leadership & Team Development
Manage engineers (1-3+ year's experience)
