Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect Java & Cloud Data to join our team supporting enterprise initiatives at Ally Financial. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in designing scalable, cloud-native applications, modern data architectures, and enterprise integration solutions. This role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams to define technical strategy and deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end enterprise solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and Cloud technologies.
- Define architecture standards, best practices, and technical roadmaps for application modernization initiatives.
- Architect cloud-native solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP with a focus on scalability, security, and performance.
- Design and implement modern data solutions including data lakes, data warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, and real-time data processing.
- Lead architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical governance across multiple projects.
- Collaborate with development, DevOps, infrastructure, security, and business teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
- Define API integration strategies using REST, messaging platforms (Kafka), and event-driven architectures.
- Ensure solutions comply with enterprise security, regulatory, and data governance standards.
- Mentor development teams and provide technical leadership throughout the SDLC.
- Support production issue resolution, performance optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- 12+ years of IT experience with 5+ years as a Solution Architect.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Microservices.
- Experience designing enterprise applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong knowledge of Cloud Data Architecture, Data Lakes, Data Warehousing, ETL/ELT, and Data Pipelines.
- Experience with Kafka, REST APIs, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Snowflake, etc.).
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Jenkins, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the Banking or Financial Services domain.
- Knowledge of regulatory, security, and compliance standards.
- Experience with API Gateway, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Observability tools.
- Cloud Architect certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP) are highly preferred.
- TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification is a plus.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI/ML-enabled data platforms.
- Knowledge of Databricks, Snowflake, Spark, or Hadoop ecosystems.
- Experience in application modernization and legacy migration initiatives.
