Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the migration of enterprise SQL databases from on-premises environments to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Cloud SQL, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Design, implement, and manage highly available, scalable, and secure cloud database solutions in GCP.
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration of databases with application workloads in the cloud.
  • Automate database provisioning, configuration, backups, and monitoring using DevOps tools and infrastructure-as-code technologies (e.g., Terraform, Puppet, Python, Packer).
  • Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions.
  • Support Pub/Sub, Kafka, and other data streaming technologies as part of the broader data ecosystem.
  • Document database architectures, configurations, and migration plans in detail.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide production support during and outside business hours, especially during key deployment and promotional windows.
  • Recommend and implement best practices in database management, reliability, and performance tuning aligned with industry standards and SRE principles.
  • Mentor junior engineers 


Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience with database technologies, or strong familiarity and demonstrated ability to become expert
  • Specific experience with Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and other relational and non-relational database platforms
  • 3+ years of experience working in public cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience in maintaining automation around infrastructure provisioning utilizing Infrastructure as a Code (preferably Terraform and Puppet)
  • Experience in utilizing Agile best practices for team workload management and prioritization setting
  • Experience in operating in a large scale database environment in an ecommerce environment
  • Knowledge of large-scale distributed systems architecture, design, implementation and performance tuning
  • Experience in modern DevOps/SRE practices such as CI/CD, performance monitoring, chaos engineering & load testing, and incident & problem management

  • Shift 1: 5:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (8 hours) Mexico CT
  • Shift 2: 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (8 hours) Mexico CT
