Senior SQL Server Database Engineer (T-SQL & Performance Tuning)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Engineer with strong expertise in T-SQL development, database performance tuning, and SQL Server administration. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with large-scale production databases, optimizing complex queries, and supporting business-critical applications.
In this role, you will work closely with application developers, data engineers, and infrastructure teams to design efficient database solutions, improve system performance, and ensure database reliability and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases and database objects.
- Develop and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views.
- Analyze and resolve database performance issues through query tuning, indexing, and execution plan optimization.
- Support ETL processes and database integrations using SQL Server technologies.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to improve database design, performance, and reliability.
- Monitor database health, troubleshoot production issues, and implement best practices for performance and scalability.
- Maintain database documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
Required Experience & Skills
- 6–10 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Strong expertise in T-SQL programming and database development.
- Proven experience in query optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting database bottlenecks.
- Good understanding of indexing strategies, execution plans, database architecture, and data modeling concepts.
- Experience working with SSIS and SQL Server tools such as SSMS and SQL Profiler.
- Familiarity with automation and scripting using PowerShell or similar technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Azure SQL, AWS RDS, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud-based database environments will be an added advantage.
