Senior Debug Engineer Responsibilities:
Debug and Failure Analysis
- Investigate and diagnose product failures, defects, and performance issues.
- Perform systematic root cause analysis using established problem‑solving methodologies.
- Analyze test data, logs, system reports, and failure symptoms to identify root causes.
- Replicate reported issues in controlled environments for troubleshooting purposes.
- Escalate complex technical problems to design and development teams when necessary.
Technical Troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, firmware, electrical, mechanical, and system‑level issues.
- Utilize diagnostic tools, oscilloscopes, analyzers, debuggers, and test equipment.
- Verify functionality and performance after corrective actions are implemented.
- Support production and laboratory environments during issue resolution activities.
Root Cause and Corrective Action
- Lead root cause investigations utilizing methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone (Ishikawa) Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), DMAIC, and Lean methodologies.
- Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Track issue closure and validate effectiveness of implemented solutions.
Process Improvement
- Identify recurring failure trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop debug procedures, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge‑base documentation.
- Recommend test enhancements to improve defect detection and prevention.
- Support reliability and quality improvement projects.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product Engineering, Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Test Engineering, and Operations teams.
- Communicate technical findings through reports, presentations, and review meetings.
- Support customer issue investigations when required.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in debugging, failure analysis, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, test engineering, or related technical roles.
- Experience working in manufacturing, electronics, automotive, industrial, semiconductor, or technology environments preferred.
- Strong understanding of troubleshooting methodologies.
- Experience with root cause analysis techniques.
- Ability to interpret schematics, engineering drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
- Familiarity with manufacturing and test processes.
- Knowledge of quality systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience using data analysis tools such as Excel, PowerBI, Minitab, JMP, or similar.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Experience with automated test systems.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis and process control.
- Programming or scripting knowledge (Python, SQL, C#, or similar).
- Understanding of reliability engineering concepts.
