As a Staff Backend Engineer at Datavant’s Life Sciences Tech Hub in Barcelona, you design scalable, secure backend services in a cloud-native environment. You own architecture and collaborate across teams to set platform standards. You’ll build Python-based APIs, deploy containers on Kubernetes in AWS, and improve reliability and performance for health data workflows. This role offers impact on clinical research, real-world evidence, and data interoperability at scale, in a mission-driven, collaborative setting.

• Design and implement backend services and APIs using Python frameworks
• Build and deploy containerized applications on Kubernetes in AWS
• Extend infrastructure as code and improve CI/CD pipelines
• Optimize system performance, scalability, and fault tolerance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define service contracts and architecture
• Monitor production systems and resolve reliability and performance issues
Responsabilidades
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years of backend software development experience
• Professional experience developing production backend services and APIs in Python
• Hands on experience with xqbhyrx Kubernetes and containerized workloads
• Experience deploying and operating services in AWS
• Experience integrating agentic code generation tools such as Claude Code or Codex into day to day software engineering practices
