The Opportunity About the Role Own platform subsystems and cross‑collaborate with many teams across the organization. Not a senior engineer with a bigger title. You architect and define strategy for AI‑first infrastructure, data foundations, and agent orchestration. You design patterns, influence across teams, and drive platform evolution, not just execute projects or write IaC.
Your work directly impacts 150+ developers and 50+ autonomous agents operating at scale, safety, and cost.
What You’ll Do GenAI-First Infrastructure (Non-Negotiable)
AI-DLC control plane: model versioning, prompt governance, cost attribution, evaluation frameworks
MCP ecosystems: build secure, spec‑driven Model Context Protocol servers and governance
Knowledge & context systems: context graphs, vector stores, RAG pipelines, memory systems
Agent orchestration: control planes, human-in-loop workflows (n8n, LangChain patterns)
AI observability: cost models, token efficiency, agent health SLOs
Data Fabric & Foundations (Decent understanding)
Data lakehouse architecture (Snowflake, Delta, Iceberg, LakeFormation etc)
Data governance: lineage tracking, cost attribution, quality gates across consumers
Federated systems: multi-region, multi-cloud data sync and API integration
Polyglot comfort: Kafka, SQL, NoSQL, graph databases, warehouses, and lake
Cloud & Infrastructure-as-Code (Core Requirement, Expert)
AWS architecture (EC2, Lambda, RDS, EKS, VPC, VPN) and multi-region strategies
Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK at scale: reusable, Ansible, testable, policy‑enforced modules
Kubernetes architecture: multi-cluster, service‑mesh, gateway api/ingress, workload isolation, cost optimization
CI/CD design: GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, GitOps for diverse workloads
Observability mastery: Datadog, Grafana, Sumo, OTEL, SLOs, meaningful alerts, cost tracking
Mentorship & Strategy
Lead technical hiring and team composition decisions
Mentor engineers on the team and help uplift the knowledge density; shape platform culture and developer advocacy on best practices
Author architecture decisions (ADRs) that guide future choices
Drive platform automation to reduce toil 20–30%
What You’ll Bring Required
8–12+ years
in platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, Cloud, Data Platform, AI/MLOps, or infrastructure roles
Deep AWS expertise : multi-region architectures, cloud-native services
Terraform mastery : design patterns at scale, infrastructure testing, policy-as-code
Kubernetes & CI/CD : can architect GitOps, multi-cluster, deployment pipelines
BCDR
strategies
ShiftLeft Mental Model
on DevSecOps framework
Observability and Resiliency
GenAI depth (non-negotiable): GitHub Copilot or Claude Code or similar tools, built/operated MCP servers, understand AI‑DLC, spec-driven development
Data lakehouse experience : designed or operated Snowflake/Delta/Iceberg systems with governance
Architectural thinking : define patterns, conduct threat models, create ADRs, think in tradeoffs
Cross-functional influence : proven ability to align teams around platform decisions
Expected Salary: 150,000 -175,000 CAD
Nice-to-Have
