Overview
Senior/Staff Python Developer – Full‑time, hybrid role based in Downtown Toronto. Senior to Staff (IC) seniority with a base of $150,000 to $200,000 CAD (depending on seniority). Engineers own problems end to end; this role is primarily backend focused using Python and Flask, but also includes server‑side rendered frontend work with HTMX and GraphQL APIs.
Responsibilities
You’ll spend a significant portion of your time building and shipping features, debugging customer issues, and working on integrations across a complex system. You’ll switch between new features and resolving real customer issues, often with evolving requirements. This is a high‑ownership environment where priorities can shift quickly, requiring strong problem‑solving, adaptability, and decisive execution.
Qualifications
- Strong experience building backend systems in Python (Flask, Django, or similar)
- Strong debugging skills and ability to handle customer‑facing production issues
- 5 to 8+ years of software engineering experience at an enterprise level
- Robust communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Additional Experience
- Experience with server‑side rendered frontend (HTMX, Turbo, or similar)
- Experience in fintech, accounting systems, logistics, or operational software
