We are seeking a Senior Storage & Data Engineer to lead large-scale AWS migrations and secure data platform initiatives as a senior individual contributor. Bridging the gap between heavy-duty data engineering and cloud storage infrastructure, you will drive architectural decisions, build robust ETL and migration pipelines, and manage advanced storage solutions like NetApp ONTAP and AWS EFS. In this role, you will migrate legacy file systems and databases into AWS-native environments while implementing phishing-resistant security controls, granular data-access frameworks, and backup strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Migration & Storage: Lead large-scale migrations of legacy files (NAS/NFS/SMB) to Amazon S3/EFS and SQL Server to Aurora PostgreSQL, managing advanced storage via AWS FSx for NetApp ONTAP.
- Data Engineering & Analytics: Design, build, and optimize high-performance AWS-based ETL/ELT pipelines and reporting workflows using Redshift, Athena, and Aurora.
- Security & Access Control: Implement granular folder access, secure analytics connections without permanent passwords, and enforce phishing-resistant MFA (FIDO2/YubiKeys).
- Reliability, Backup & DevOps: Design automated backup/DR frameworks (SnapMirror, snapshots), build data validation pipelines, and manage infrastructure using Terraform, Kubernetes, and GitLab CI/CD.
Required Skills
- 7+ years of experience in Data & Storage Engineering.
- Proven experience moving NAS/NFS/SMB workloads to S3/EFS and SQL Server to Aurora/PostgreSQL.
- Strong hands-on experience with NetApp ONTAP (volumes, qtrees, ACLs) and AWS EFS (EFS Mount Points, POSIX permissions).
- Strong Python and SQL expertise, with hands-on experience using boto3, SQLAlchemy, and ETL scripting.
- Advanced knowledge of AWS services like S3, Aurora/RDS, IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, and ECS/EKS.
- Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, and Terraform.
- Hands-on experience implementing phishing-resistant MFA, identity providers (Okta/Entra ID), and AWS IAM policy optimization.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Spark, Airflow, or Kubernetes-based data pipelines.
- Exposure to Go or Java microservices.
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as Pytest, Playwright, or K6.
- Experience supporting Machine Learning (ML) and data science workloads.
