Job Description
We are seeking an experienced
Structural Application Engineer to design and develop structural systems for
offsite-manufactured and modular building components. This position will be responsible for structural analysis, connection design, detailing, and engineering oversight to ensure structural integrity, safety, code compliance, and constructability.
The ideal candidate will have strong structural engineering experience, proficiency with structural analysis and design software, and the ability to collaborate with architects, engineers, manufacturing teams, vendors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop structural designs for offsite-manufactured and modular building products and systems, including
    steel framing, supports, foundations, and structural connections.
  • Perform structural analysis and
    Finite Element Modeling (FEM) to validate designs under various loading conditions.
  • Prepare and review structural calculations, engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Use engineering software such as
    SAP2000, STAAD, Revit, Inventor, TEKLA, or similar tools for structural analysis, design, detailing, and modeling.
  • Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, structural engineers, manufacturing teams, and other construction disciplines.
  • Coordinate structural designs to ensure proper integration of modular and offsite-manufactured components.
  • Participate in client-facing and cross-functional discussions to resolve design issues, mitigate risks, and finalize engineering solutions.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, vendor drawings, and other technical documents for compliance with engineering requirements.
  • Evaluate materials, structural systems, and construction methods for performance, manufacturability, constructability, and cost efficiency.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to optimize designs for
    production, assembly, transportation, lifting, and onsite installation.
  • Conduct shop-floor and field visits to verify constructability and alignment with operational requirements.
  • Prepare technical studies, engineering specifications, cost estimates, and proposal evaluations.
  • Support research and development activities involving new structural products, modular systems, and offsite construction technologies.
  • Stay current with developments in structural engineering, modular construction, manufacturing processes, and applicable building codes.
  • Manage multiple projects and competing priorities while meeting established deadlines.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in
    Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum
    4+ years of experience in structural analysis and design.
  • Strong knowledge of structural systems, steel design, framing, foundations, and connections.
  • Experience performing structural analysis and/or
    Finite Element Modeling (FEM).
  • Proficiency with one or more structural engineering/design applications such as
    SAP2000, STAAD/STAAD.Pro, Revit, Inventor, TEKLA, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of applicable structural and building codes, including
    ASCE, AISC, and IBC.
  • Ability to produce, interpret, and manage engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to exercise independent engineering judgment and make sound technical decisions.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented approach to engineering challenges.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including
    intermediate Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience with
    modular construction, offsite manufacturing, prefabricated structures, or pre-engineered building systems.
  • Experience coordinating structural designs with manufacturing and construction teams.
  • Experience with structural connection design and detailing.
  • Experience conducting shop-floor, manufacturing, or field inspections.
  • Experience working in a client-facing engineering environment.
