About AlgoBotix
AlgoBotix is a drone deep-tech company developing advanced unmanned aerial systems, multi-UAV command-and-control platforms, ground control stations, intelligent mission-management solutions, and resilient communication technologies.
We work at the intersection of aerospace engineering, robotics, mechanical systems, electronics, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing to build mission-ready systems for defence, public safety, industrial, and commercial applications.
About the Role
AlgoBotix is looking for a Structural Design Engineer to support the mechanical and structural development of Ground Control Stations, UAV platforms, and related field-deployable systems.
The candidate will work closely with electronics, avionics, manufacturing, and procurement teams to develop lightweight, rugged, manufacturable, and serviceable products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical structures, enclosures, mounting systems, brackets, frames, and assemblies for Ground Control Stations and UAV systems.
- Develop rugged, portable, foldable, and field-deployable product designs.
- Optimize designs for weight, strength, durability, thermal management, ergonomics, and manufacturability.
- Select suitable materials such as aluminium alloys, carbon-fibre composites, engineering plastics, and sheet metal.
- Perform basic structural, vibration, shock, and thermal analysis.
- Conduct FEA simulations and support prototype testing and design validation.
- Create 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, GD&T-compliant manufacturing drawings, and Bills of Materials.
- Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis and ensure proper fitment of assemblies.
- Support prototyping, fabrication, assembly, testing, and design iterations.
- Coordinate with vendors and procurement teams for material sourcing, fabrication, quality validation, and cost optimization.
- Support the transition of products from prototype to production.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, product development, aerospace, robotics, automotive, or rugged electronics.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA, Creo, or similar CAD software.
- Familiarity with ANSYS, Abaqus, SolidWorks Simulation, or other FEA tools.
- Good understanding of structural design, material selection, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with CNC machining, sheet-metal fabrication, 3D printing, or composite manufacturing.
- Ability to take a design from concept through fabrication and testing.
Preferred Skills
- Experience designing rugged enclosures, portable systems, UAV components, or electronic packaging.
- Knowledge of vibration isolation, shock protection, thermal management, and IP-rated enclosures.
- Familiarity with composite materials and lightweight structural design.
- Knowledge of MIL-STD environmental or vibration requirements.
- Experience working in fast-paced prototyping or product-development environments.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to work on advanced drone and Ground Control Station products.
- Hands-on experience in designing, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing.
- End-to-end ownership of mechanical and structural subsystems.
- A multidisciplinary and fast-paced engineering environment.
