Opportunity

McElhanney is seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join the Kelowna, BC team. The role reports to the Division Manager and involves collaborating with local and regional teams to deliver structural engineering projects for clients including local governments, provincial ministries, agencies, and crown corporations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design, engineering, and site inspections for structural projects.
  • Lead project management of multi-disciplinary projects, including managing local structural assignments.
  • Assist with proposal preparation and business development.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited post‑secondary institution with 10+ years of experience in structural design.
  • Registration in good standing as a P.Eng. in any Canadian province or territory.
  • Proven delivery of structural projects (design, drafting, and inspection) for public and private clients, with experience in multi‑family, multi‑story residential design considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with National and Provincial Building Codes, including steel (CAN/CSA S16), concrete (CAN/CSA A23.3), masonry (CAN/CSA S304.1), and wood (CAN/CSA 086).
  • Proficiency with structural engineering software such as RISA or SAP2000.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a positive, team‑oriented attitude.
  • Strong people skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse range of individuals.

Salary

The salary range for this position is $100,000 – $140,000 per annum. Compensation will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
